Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Lewis County Criminal History. A visitor who browses the website, reads its content, or uses a search feature agrees to be bound by them. Anyone who does not accept these terms should stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. Lewis County Criminal History is privately operated and has no affiliation with a local, Kentucky, or federal government agency. Neither this website nor its advertising partners provides a service designed for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The website helps readers locate official criminal-record resources for Lewis County and Kentucky. It is neither a consumer reporting agency nor a private investigation firm.

1. What This Website Is

Lewis County Criminal History is an independent reference website. It does not keep official records, retrieve a government record for a visitor, conduct an official background check, or submit forms on anyone's behalf.

Its content directs readers to Lewis County custodians and Kentucky sources. Those include the sheriff, the courts, Kentucky State Police (KSP), and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. KSP operates the centralized criminal-history system under KRS 17.140. Requests for qualifying records held by a public agency are governed by the Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, and must go to the office that holds the record. Links may also connect visitors to outside search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, each visitor agrees not to:

  • Use site content to threaten, stalk, or harass a person
  • Violate any applicable local, Kentucky, or federal law
  • Rely on the website for a hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decision
  • Attempt to enter accounts, systems, or data without authorization
  • Send bots, scrapers, or other automated tools through the pages
  • Interfere with performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No information found here or through a linked service may be used to stalk, threaten, intimidate, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. This limit is especially important for the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. Kentucky makes registry information available for public-safety awareness under KRS 17.580, not for vigilantism, housing discrimination, employment blacklisting, or attacks on a registrant or household. Misuse may also violate criminal or civil law.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Lewis County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not prepare credit reports, background checks, or consumer reports. Its advertising partners do not offer tools designed to screen applicants, assess rental applications, set insurance terms, or determine creditworthiness. Visitors agree not to use website or linked-tool data to:

  • Make a decision to hire or dismiss a person
  • Evaluate an applicant for a rental or other housing
  • Set credit, lending, or insurance terms
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other purpose regulated by the FCRA

A lawful check needed for one of those purposes must come from an authorized official channel or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA. This website cannot supply it.

5. No Legal Advice

Website content is general information, not legal advice. It may describe Lewis County records and Kentucky procedures, but it cannot determine how an arrest, charge, warrant, conviction, or expungement law affects one person. A licensed Kentucky attorney should be consulted for advice about a specific matter.

6. No Warranties

The website and its content are offered "as is." No promise or warranty is made that:

  • Information will always be complete, correct, or current
  • The website will be continuously available
  • Pages will contain no errors or security weaknesses
  • An outside search provider will return complete or accurate results

Lewis County and Kentucky records can change as charges are filed or dismissed and as records are restricted or expunged. Gaps and delays may occur. Content from this website is not an official statement by a court, sheriff, KSP, or any other government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

The website may link to Lewis County offices, court systems, Kentucky agencies, legal-aid groups, and outside search services. Following a link takes the visitor to a service that Lewis County Criminal History neither operates nor controls. No responsibility is accepted for the destination's content, privacy practices, fees, availability, or results. Review its terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code on this website belong to Lewis County Criminal History or the applicable content partner. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create another work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the greatest extent permitted by law, Lewis County Criminal History is not responsible for losses or damages arising from access to or use of the website. This exclusion includes a decision based on information obtained here or through a linked provider.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to defend and hold Lewis County Criminal History harmless from claims, demands, proceedings, and related costs, including legal fees, that arise from the visitor's use of the website or breach of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Kentucky law governs these terms. A dispute tied to use of Lewis County Criminal History must be brought in a court located within the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision becomes effective when the updated terms are posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access to all or part of the website may be suspended or ended at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected provision will be adjusted only to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
