Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Lewis County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When a visitor sends an email, the message is retained as needed to prepare a response. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Technical information can be collected when a visitor loads or uses the website, including:

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Lewis County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies official access routes, including Lewis County record custodians, Kentucky State Police (KSP), and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. KSP operates Kentucky's centralized criminal-history system under KRS 17.140. This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or files about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a search box is handled under that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention, use, and disclosure practices. Visitors should review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Lewis County offices, Kentucky courts, KSP, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. After a visitor follows one, the destination's policy governs the visit because Lewis County Criminal History does not control that website. Review its privacy terms before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted advertising. That processing does not occur on systems controlled by Lewis County Criminal History.

Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, a request may be made for its prompt deletion.
Your Data Rights
Kentucky law may provide rights based on the type of information and the body holding it. The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs access to qualifying records held by public agencies, while KRS 17.140 governs Kentucky's centralized criminal-history system under KSP. Those public-record laws do not convert Lewis County Criminal History into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information held about that visitor
- Ask for inaccurate information to be corrected
- Request deletion of personal information
- Decline certain forms of data processing
